NAMES TETRIS® LINK™ A “BEST GAME” FOR 2011
New York – November 15, 2011 – The Good Housekeeping Research Institute (GHRI) recently NAMES TETRIS® LINK™ A “BEST GAME” FOR 2011
announced its Fourth Annual Best Toy Awards, and has selected Tetris® Link™ as one of the
“Best Games” for 2011. To make its selection, more than 30 kids (and their parents) went
head-to-head at home testing 50 of this year's new board games, narrowing it down to the top six0
“Best Games” of 2011. The winners, including Tetris Link, appear in the December 2011 issue of
Good Housekeeping, on newsstands now.
“In its fourth year running, the Good Housekeeping Best Toy Awards program is more competitive
than ever,” said Miriam Arond, Director of the Good Housekeeping Research Institute. “Tetris Link
was a standout favorite among our child and parent testers, and we are happy to call it one of the
Best Games introduced for 2011.”
These awards represent an outstanding achievement. In addition to the games being tested and rated
by dozens of children, GHRI engineers also conduct a safety review, confirming that all have met
ASTM requirements and/or other appropriate certifications.
The Research Institute was founded in 1900 to improve the lives of consumers and their families
through education and product evaluation. GHRI is the product-evaluation laboratory of the
magazine, with a staff of scientists, engineers, nutritionists, and researchers dedicated to evaluating
and testing products.
The Tetris Link game begins as players take turns rolling the die and dropping Tetriminos
(iconic Tetris playing pieces) into the game tower. The object of the game is to link Tetriminos of the
same color to score points while blocking opponents from scoring. But, be careful! Players can lose
points for any holes left in the game tower. Points are tracked in real-time with built-in scorers. When
the tower is full, the player with the highest score wins the game. It is easy enough for younger kids
to learn, while still challenging for seasoned strategists. The tabletop game promotes strategic
thinking and organizational skills. Play time: 15-20 minutes.
Perfect for two to four players, Tetris Link includes the game tower, 100 playing pieces in four
colors, playing die and instructions. Recommended for those ages 6 to adult, Tetris Link is now
available for purchase at major and specialty retailers nationwide for $24.99.
