Getting Ahead

Now that you've graduated from the Basic section with an understanding of how to move and rotate Tetriminos and how to clear a line, you're ready for the Intermediate section. Here you will learn the strategy of the Ghost Piece, the Next Queue and the Hold Queue -- all three are essential for taking your Tetris® game to the next level.  Go ahead and give these tutorials a try when you're ready!

Using the Ghost Piece

The Ghost Piece shows where the current Tetrimino will land if you don't move it or rotate it. Use it to line up where you want the Tetrimino to go.

Objective

Use the Ghost Piece to position the Tetrimino to clear two lines at once.

Using the Next Queue

The Next Queue shows the Next Tetrimino that will come into play. Use it for a quick look at what is ahead.

Objective

Position two Tetriminos to clear three lines at once.

Holding a Tetrimino

If you can't find a place to put a Tetrimino, hold is using the SHIFT key. To get the held Tetrimino back later, push the SHIFT key again.

Objective

Hold a Tetrimino and then use it later to clear four lines at once.
